Daktronics Inc. (Brookings, SD) will design, manufacture and install new videoscreens at the University of Florida’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, known as the “Swamp.” Coming off their second national championship in three seasons, University of Florida football fans will watch the Gators begin their title defense in 2009 with video displays that feature Daktronics’ HD-X LED video technology. The displays will be located in both end zones of the stadium, and Daktronics will retrofit to the existing structures. The larger, south end-zone video display will measure approximately 136 x 30 ft. high, while the north end zone will feature one that measures approximately 71 x 24 ft. The videoboards can operate as individual displays or be divided into multiple zones (windows) to show various statistics, information, graphics, animations, and live and recorded video.

Daktronics will also provide digital ribbon-display technology to the fascia. These displays provide fans with in-game information, out-of-town scores, promotional messages and crowd prompts that create an interactive experience. Florida sponsors will also have creative opportunities to get their messages across through motion graphics and other eye-catching content.

Daktronics first installed its video technology at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in 1998 as has worked with the University of Florida over the past decade installing systems in the O’Connell Center as well as the baseball, softball, soccer and track and field facilities.
