Company began as cotton mill, now coats and converts films and specialty media
Arkwright Advanced Coating Inc. (Fiskeville, RI), a manufacturer and distributor of coated papers, films and specialty media, is announcing its 200th anniversary. The company was founded in 1809 as a cotton-spinning mill, and began production in September 1810. By the late 20th century, it was a leading fabricator of bookbinding cloth and, by the mid-20th century, began producing drafting and diazo-reproduction paper before transitioning into printable media. The Cies, Italy-based Diatec Group purchased the company in July 2008, and Arkwright currently operates five coating lines, converting machines and an R & D laboratory, among other amenities.
